Job Purpose:

The Emissions calibration role is to support the delivery of the in-house emissions development, from initial specification, through testing, development and sign off.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Under the guidance of the emissions manager, deliver emissions calibration work packages, for example cold start, catalyst heating, purge, GPF etc., across all AML powertrains, to engineering & legislative requirements
  • Plan, support & run simulation, engine & chassis emissions rigs at our suppliers, to deliver these work packages on complex engines and powertrains, using cutting edge tools & methodologies.
  • Commercially support the progress and reporting for all of these emission calibration work packages, by ensuring that they are delivered to all cost and timing targets.
  • Prepare reports of all findings from Test bed, Vehicle testing and environmental testing, and present these to all levels of the business, up to director technical meetings
  • Identify, prepare & initiate modifications to the calibration for future model year actions
  • Guide component selection in close collaboration with hardware colleagues.
  • Manage and specify Calibration hardware and tools to support development activity.
  • Specify powertrain software algorithms / functional strategy, to improve emissions related features.
  • Represent the company internally and externally, regarding emissions activities and supplier visits.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Experience within an automotive vehicle manufacturer or Consultancy with
    • Direct experience of delivery of calibration of gasoline engines on test bed and / or in vehicle.
    • Familiarity with software documentation, calibration tools such as INCA, Creta, Concerto, MDA
  • Recent direct experience of application of new technologies including Hybrid & BEV vehicles

  • Educated to Degree level Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • Member of the IMechE or similarly recognised international institution – or working towards
