Job Purpose:
To be responsible for concept specification, design, integration and technical ownership of HV systems for hybrid and electric vehicles across AML programmes
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
3D concept design generation of HV systems hardware
Creation of detailed 3D CAD models and 2D drawings of HV systems hardware
Package integration of HV systems
Tolerance studies
Definition of HV systems BOM, driven by CAD structure
Liaise with interfacing system owners and package teams ensuring compatibility
Work closely with component suppliers ensuring cost, mass and functional optimisation
Manage and maintain HV systems CAD assembly within the whole programme buck
Extensive liaison with internal manufacturing teams
Work closely with simulation team to ensure good model correlation
Work closely with development team to ensure functional performance and durability achieves targets
Releasing for prototype
Train, coach and present technical information and share the knowledge throughout AML
Develop and record best practices and support development of design manuals to handle the Electrified Powertrain requirements of today and the future
Qualification & Experience:
The essential areas of previous experience required to undertake this role include:
Design and development of HV systems hardware for hybrid and/or electric vehicles
Significant experience in Siemens NX CAD software
Experience of using Teamcenter for data management
Generation of 2D and 3D NX CAD in line with corporate standards
Simulation techniques used in the definition and validation of HV systems hardware
Formal releasing procedures and design change management
Ability to analyse and validate supplier data to identify issues
BOM definition and maintenance
Driving optimisation through analysis
Working across functional teams (design, development, procurement, build and test) to deliver viable design solutions
Volume manufacturing processes – casting, machining, fabrication, forming, pipe and hose manufacture
Assembly line and general design for manufacture considerations
Manage concern resolution
Working within an OEM environment
Test methods used in the validation of HV systems hardware
Appreciation of test instrumentation and data analysis
Engineering Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic and/or related field
Preferred experience:
Understanding of hybrid and electric powertrain system functionalities and attributes at vehicle, system and component levels
Working knowledge of DFMEAs, DVPs and test activities
Developing design standards
Engineering process and a working knowledge of industry standard tool sets
Knowledge of relevant vehicle legislation and certification requirements for HV systems
Teamcentre PLM
Developing and documenting benchmark data
Component and vehicle level testing (including crash)
German language skills
Industry standard vehicle validation procedures
