As a Metrology Degree Apprentice, you’ll join a team at the forefront of quality and precision. You’ll play a crucial role in developing and selecting measurement methods, analysing and reporting data to drive design, process and part quality decisions and facilitating improvements in our cutting-edge product development and production processes. From ensuring excellence in body assembly to resolving engineering challenges, you’ll be integral to delivering the unparalleled quality Aston Martin is known for.
What You’ll Be Doing:
This is not just another apprenticeship—it’s a journey of discovery, development, and impact. Key responsibilities include:
- Mastering measurement techniques: Learn how to select, use and develop methods to ensure precision and accuracy.
- Data analysis and problem-solving: Use measurement data to identify and resolve engineering challenges.
- Driving innovation: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve designs and processes for our current and future models.
- Creating clear reports: Understand what the cross functional teams need to communicate findings effectively and make recommendations to drive decision-making.
- Rotation plan: Gain hands-on experience across multiple departments to build a holistic understanding of our engineering, manufacturing and quality processes, including:
- Metrology: Learn core metrology principles and their practical application.
- R&D Body Engineering: Explore body-in-white design, perceived and optical quality, dimensional management, variation analysis and locator design.
- Manufacturing Engineering: Understand tooling design and manufacturing processes.
- Plant Vehicle Team: Solve real-world build issues stemming from body dimensional errors.
- Blended learning experience—you’ll combine practical on-the-job learning with online studies and immersive training sessions, equipping you with both technical expertise and personal confidence.
What We’re Looking For:
We’re seeking someone who is curious, motivated, and eager to make an impact. Practical experience with hands-on projects and a knack for solving problems are key. You should be confident in defining the problem you need to solve, researching solutions, communicating your proposals and following the process through implementation.
A passion for precision, an eye for detail, and the ability to approach challenges logically are essential. You enjoy working methodically, gathering evidence, and collaborating with others to drive improvements. Your interest in engineering, mathematics, or physics and your eagerness to learn and grow will help you stand out.
This is an opportunity for someone who is driven, inquisitive, and ready to embrace new challenges in a dynamic environment.
Essential requirements:
- 3 A’s to include Mathematics and Physics.
Applicants with a strong profile who are studying one from A level Physics or A level Mathematics may be considered.
Unless specified differently above, you will also need a minimum of GCSE grade 4 or C (or an equivalent qualification) in English Language and either Mathematics or a Science subject. - Able to commute to the Gaydon site by own means/personal transport.
- Able to attend Warwick University by own means/personal transport.
