JOB PURPOSE:

The plant quality department plays a key role in identifying and rectifying quality issues and opportunities in a timely manner so that it does not impact the customer.

The Quality Road Test Technician will work with the production road-test team to evaluate the dynamic performance of every car to a set route and quality standard for each sportscar model.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Rectification:

  • Receive each car and complete a safety check to ensure the car can be safely driven.
  • Apply protection to the car to the required standard to protect the bodywork while on road test.
  • Dynamically assess each vehicle to a calibrated, set standard.
  • Report and communicate issues effectively to the correct team.
  • Confirm that any issues found have been resolved in a timely manner.
  • Management of own time and duties.
  • Daily reporting to Group Leader in team start-ups, one-to-ones and escalating when required.
  • Responsible for delivering own objectives in support of departmental goals and objectives.
  • Able to work efficiently and effectively within cross functional teams.

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Completion of an appropriate automotive apprenticeship/engineering qualification (city & guilds level 3 + or equivalent) is essential.
  • Automotive experience (Paint / BIW / Assembly).
  • In-depth understanding of overall vehicle construction.
  • Visual inspection experience ideally within and automotive production environment.
  • Experience in inspection systems.
  • General knowledge of ISO9001.
  • Logical problem-solving mind-set.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels within the company, and work as part of a cross functional team or autonomously.
  • High degree of numeracy, literacy, and computer literate.
  • Carry out measurements on vehicles using appropriate tools and gauges.
  • Able to physically investigate vehicle issues, including some assembly/dis-assembly if required.
  • The ability to self-manage and work under pressure to deliver and thrive in an ever changing and dynamic environment.
  • Able to travel within the UK, Europe and around the world to other Aston Martin sites/locations.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Flexible to work a variety of shift patterns, to include earlies, lates and nights and overtime, weekends to achieve production targets.

  • The post holder will be required to comply with all policies and procedures issued by and on behalf of Aston Martin Lagonda ltd.

Volume protection contractual overtime arrangements are in place to ensure required production demands can be met. Stand up and Stand down balances are managed as part of each employees Working Time Account (WTA).

All production employees are required to align with fixed holidays throughout the year in line with production shutdowns. Your annual leave ‘floating days’ are on a pro-rota basis based on your start date and can be taken outside of those shutdowns.
