🚗 Software Release and Update Manager
Drive Compliance. Lead Innovation. Shape the Future.
Aston Martin Lagonda is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Software Release and Update Manager to lead the coordination, governance, and delivery of software across all vehicle programmes. This role is central to ensuring compliance with UNECE R156 – Software Update Management System (SUMS), while driving process excellence, automation, and cross-functional collaboration.
Working within the Electrical & Electronic Integration Team, you’ll take ownership of the complete software release lifecycle—from planning and scheduling to deployment and verification. You’ll coordinate releases across multiple platforms and programmes, ensuring alignment with engineering milestones and programme timing. Your leadership will guide the Software Update Change Control Board and ensure that all processes meet SUMS regulations.
A key focus of this role is managing the software release toolchain. You’ll define and maintain the tools and frameworks that support release robustness, automation, and traceability. This includes managing delivery tracking systems like Jira, and ensuring the integrity of bug tracking and version control processes. You’ll also support the creation of end-of-line commissioning documentation and ensure clean build introductions through manufacturing diagnostics.
To succeed, you’ll bring experience in automotive electrical or software roles, ideally with exposure to hybrid systems. You should have knowledge of automotive architectures and communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Flexray, Ethernet),
Experience with diagnostic standards like UDS, ISO 14229, and DOIP. Experience with manufacturing diagnostics, software deployment, and the full product development cycle is essential. You must have a solid understanding of UNECE R156 (SUMS) regulations, it’s processes and implementation in an OEM
You’ll be a strategic thinker with strong technical foundations, including the ability to interpret requirements documentation, read complex circuit diagrams, and support prototype builds and fleet testing. Your leadership in issue resolution across multiple commodities, combined with your understanding of functional safety and cybersecurity, will be key to success.
An engineering degree is essential, with a master’s degree preferred. You’ll be a confident communicator, a proactive problem-solver, and a collaborative team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
This role offers the opportunity to shape Aston Martin’s software strategy and compliance landscape, with potential for career progression within the Electrical Department or other areas of the business. Occasional travel within Europe or globally may be required, and AML Driver Permits will be necessary for vehicle validation and fault diagnosis.
