Job Purpose:

To lead all discussions on Infotainment features, lead resolution of complex problems during development and overall project life cycle. Own and be responsible for feature definition & ownership, Component ownership and delivery responsible for infotainment components. These include infotainment head unit, tuner, microphone, amplifiers etc.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead definition of integration concepts for new Infotainment platform.
  • Lead Infotainment platform delivery
  • Define Infotainment feature requirements for Vehicle integration functions, HVAC, diagnostics etc in addition to other infotainment features like Tuners, Nav etc.
  • Define cable requirements for high speed data lines to overcome RF interference or performance issues.
  • Good understanding of USB protocols and eye diagram for USB modules to comply with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto requirements.
  • Create feature release and feature readiness plan
  • Work with component & feature owners to define the diagnostic concept for manufacturing end of line routines & service diagnostics. 
  • Document the system design in the AML requirements management tool, creating system requirements specifications at component level.  
  • Lead DFMEA and DVP creation for responsible components.
  • Support functional safety related tasks at the concept and system level, including item definition, HARA, definition of safety goals, impact analysis etc.
  • Support Cyber Security related tasks at the concept and system level, including item definition, definition of security goals.
  • inform the strategy and design of critical components based on expertise and experience of the infotainment industry
  • Define and maintain a 5-year strategy & foster relevant new technologies to implementation ready within agreed budget, timing. 
  • Support UX Expert in UX concept definition
  • In depth technical understanding of Infotainment functions, vehicle architecture, CAN AUTOSAR, A2C, Automotive Ethernet.
  • Support with defining targets for future models.
  • Deliver the Programme quality, cost, weight, function and timing requirements for the systems and features you are responsible for.
  • Ensure that the systems meet the Function plan (with the component suppliers), creating & managing recovery plans as required.
  • Project manage the suppliers in order to ensure your deliverables are met
  • Conduct Aston Martin whole vehicle testing for your systems and features both within & outside of the UK with a focus on customer acceptance.
  • Work with a cross functional team to ensure that all stakeholders deliver the support required to deliver your systems on time and to budget.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Detailed knowledge of Infotainment systems and features by working as a lead / Principal engineer with an automotive OEM or supplier. 
  • Usage of requirements capture and issue tracking tools
  • CAN tools – CANoE
  • Understanding of LIN/CAN/Automotive Ethernet, A2C
  • Understanding of electronics/software and hardware design
  • Data analysis & report writing
  • experience in delivering Infotainment modules.
  • Experience of delivery of multiple Infotainment projects.
  • Proven record of delivering Electrical or Electronics commodities, including quality, cost, function, weight and timing. Experience of vehicle level system integration in terms of hardware and Software). Experience of software development processes and managing software delivery.
  • Experience of defining and delivering infotainment systems, Navigation, Bluetooth and Media devices, Tuner and Infotainment HMI. Delivery experience on Infotainment OS system (windows, Linux, QNX, etc.).
  • Extensive knowledge of automotive development systems e.g. releasing
  • Experience of defining systems complying to NHTSA, driver distraction, functional safety, cyber security.
  • Experience of managing ASIL A / ASIL B ECU’s.
  • Supplier management experience
  • Complete knowledge of Product Development cycle from concept to launch completion
  • Excellent technical engineering background and a comprehensive knowledge of using calculation and analysis to drive design.
  • Excellent knowledge of automotive quality tools and processes.
  • Extensive knowledge of the manufacturing processes to create the components or systems.
  • Electrical engineering degree
