Senior Manufacturing Engineer - Paint

Aston Martin Lagonda | Gaydon, Warwickshire

Join the team behind some of the world's most iconic luxury sports cars and play a key role in shaping the future of automotive manufacturing. Aston Martin is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer - Paint to support continuous improvement and innovation within our Paint Manufacturing Engineering team at Gaydon.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced manufacturing engineer who is passionate about process optimisation, quality improvement and advanced paint technologies. Working within Manufacturing Operations, you will be instrumental in developing and implementing robust manufacturing processes that ensure the highest standards of quality, safety and efficiency across our paint facility.

As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering process and quality improvements throughout the paint shop, supporting both current production vehicles and future model programmes. You will develop and maintain manufacturing processes, create standardised work instructions and process documentation, and collaborate with production, logistics, facilities and engineering teams to optimise layouts, tooling and operator efficiency.

The role requires a hands-on approach, combining office-based engineering activities with significant shop floor presence. You will investigate production issues, lead problem-solving activities, implement corrective actions and drive continuous improvement initiatives. You will also play a key role in the introduction of new technologies and Industry 4.0 manufacturing concepts, helping Aston Martin maintain its position at the forefront of luxury automotive manufacturing.

Working closely with Product Engineering, Quality, Production and external suppliers, you will ensure new and modified product content is introduced seamlessly into the production environment. You will support fixture management, process validation, design-for-assembly activities and the development of future paint technologies across primer, basecoat and clearcoat applications.

To be successful in this position, you will have completed a recognised engineering apprenticeship and possess previous Manufacturing Engineering experience within automotive, aerospace or a similar manufacturing environment. You will have a strong understanding of process improvement techniques, problem-solving methodologies and data analysis, alongside the ability to interpret manufacturing data and drive effective solutions.

Experience within automotive paint processes would be highly advantageous, although candidates with a broader manufacturing engineering background and a strong desire to learn will also be considered. You will possess excellent communication skills, be capable of influencing stakeholders at all levels and have experience leading projects from concept through to implementation.

A minimum ONC qualification is required, with an HNC or degree in an engineering discipline preferred.

This role offers excellent exposure across the business and the opportunity to contribute to some of the most prestigious vehicles in the automotive industry. The position operates on-site at our Gaydon facility, working standard hours of 6:30am to 3:30pm Monday to Thursday and 6:30am to 11:30am Friday. Flexibility will be required to support production activities and occasional travel to other Aston Martin sites may be necessary.

If you are looking to apply your manufacturing engineering expertise within a world-renowned luxury automotive brand and help deliver exceptional quality and innovation, we'd love to hear from you.
