Programme Leader

Apply now Job no: 512403
Work type: Full Time - Permanent
Location: Gaydon, Warwickshire
Categories: Vehicle Engineering

At Aston Martin, we create some of the world’s most desirable ultra-luxury performance vehicles, combining cutting-edge technology, exceptional craftsmanship and iconic design. Behind every Aston Martin programme is a team dedicated to transforming ambitious concepts into world-class products. We are currently seeking a Programme Leader to join our Programme Management function and play a vital role in delivering future vehicle programmes from product definition through to Start of Production (SOP).

As a Programme Leader, you will sit at the centre of vehicle development, coordinating complex cross-functional activities and ensuring programme objectives are achieved across scope, timing, cost, quality and resource targets. Working closely with Programme Managers, Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Finance and supplier partners, you will help drive programme execution and maintain alignment across all stakeholders throughout the product development lifecycle.

This is a highly visible role that requires strong organisational and leadership skills, alongside the ability to influence across multiple business functions. You will be responsible for coordinating programme gateways, tracking deliverables and preparing evidence packs to support key programme reviews and milestone approvals. You will monitor actions arising from Programme Steering Team meetings, ensuring issues are progressed to resolution and that programme risks are identified and managed proactively.

You will support the creation and maintenance of critical programme documentation, including programme SEL and PDL deliverables, while ensuring product definition documentation remains accurate and up to date. Working with engineering teams and commodity owners, you will develop and maintain release plans and Engineering Timing Release Schedules, monitoring progress against targets and driving the implementation of recovery plans where required.

A key element of the role will involve supporting programme cost management activities, helping to establish targets, review programme performance and identify opportunities for cost optimisation. You will also lead BOM-to-CAD alignment activities and virtual series events, ensuring technical maturity and programme readiness are achieved in line with key delivery milestones.

Working across the wider vehicle development organisation, you will assist in defining and maintaining overall programme timing plans, integrating launch points, commodity schedules, engineering releases and prototype build activities into a coherent and deliverable programme roadmap. You will manage concern resolution through established change management processes, tracking key metrics, escalating issues

where appropriate and facilitating timely decision-making to support programme success.

You will also play an important role in prototype and vehicle build planning, ensuring specifications, bills of materials and commodity plans are aligned to programme objectives. As your experience develops, you will act as deputy to the Programme Manager when required and may take responsibility for smaller model programmes, managing financial performance and delivery outcomes while providing leadership across the programme team.

The successful candidate will hold an Automotive or Mechanical Engineering degree, or possess significant equivalent industry experience. You will have proven experience coordinating or managing complex vehicle programmes, systems or major engineering projects within an automotive environment, together with a strong understanding of product development and product creation processes. Experience in component design, development and engineering sign-off activities is essential, enabling you to confidently engage with technical teams and support effective programme delivery.

You will be highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly PowerPoint and Excel, and comfortable analysing programme data, developing executive-level presentations and communicating recommendations to senior stakeholders. Strong presentation, communication and stakeholder management skills are critical, along with the confidence to lead discussions, challenge constructively and drive alignment across diverse teams.
