Work type: Full Time - Permanent
Location: Gaydon, Warwickshire
Categories: Body Engineering

At Aston Martin, we are driven by a passion for creating some of the world's most desirable high-performance luxury vehicles. Every vehicle reflects exceptional craftsmanship, innovation, and attention to detail. We are currently seeking an experienced and inspiring Head of Seating & Trim Development to lead the delivery and evolution of our seating and interior trim commodities across current and future vehicle programmes.

The Opportunity

As Head of Seating & Trim Development, you will play a pivotal leadership role within Body Engineering, overseeing the teams responsible for seating systems and interior trim development. This position combines strategic leadership with technical expertise, ensuring the successful delivery of innovative seating and trim solutions that meet the highest standards of quality, performance, cost, and timing.

Working closely with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and senior leadership, you will shape the future direction of seating and trim development while building and developing a high-performing team capable of delivering world-class vehicle interiors.

What You'll Be Doing

You will lead the end-to-end development of seating systems and interior trim commodities across multiple vehicle programmes, providing strategic direction and technical leadership throughout the product lifecycle.

This role will see you driving commodity strategies, managing cross-functional engineering activities, and ensuring alignment across design, manufacturing, procurement, quality, and programme teams. You will oversee design reviews, validation activities, virtual and physical build phases, and issue resolution initiatives to ensure successful programme delivery.

Alongside commodity ownership, you will lead the trim development function, defining its future strategy and strengthening it as a core capability within the business. You will ensure the team delivers high-quality engineering documentation, robust problem-solving activities, and effective contingency plans to overcome programme challenges.

A key part of the role will involve building strong internal and external relationships, working with suppliers to assess manufacturing feasibility, benchmarking industry-leading solutions, and presenting technical recommendations and programme updates to senior stakeholders, including executive leadership.

Most importantly, you will foster an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performing environment where engineers, trimmers, and apprentices can thrive and develop.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for a proven leader with significant experience in automotive seating and interior trim development, alongside a strong track record of delivering complex engineering programmes from concept through to production.

You will bring extensive experience leading cross-functional teams, developing innovative seating solutions, and managing engineering activities within a fast-paced product development environment. A deep understanding of automotive development processes, manufacturing methods, validation activities, engineering documentation, and quality methodologies such as DFMEA is essential.

You will also possess strong commercial awareness, with experience in budget management, resource planning, supplier engagement, and risk management.

The successful candidate will be an effective communicator who is comfortable influencing stakeholders at all levels of the organisation and presenting technical information with confidence and clarity.

A degree in Engineering or a related discipline would be advantageous, although substantial equivalent industry experience will also be considered.

Why Aston Martin?

This is an opportunity to play a key role in shaping the future of one of the world's most iconic luxury automotive brands. You will work alongside talented colleagues, influence the development of future vehicle programmes, and contribute to the delivery of exceptional customer experiences through innovative interior design and engineering excellence.

In return, we offer a collaborative working environment, exciting technical challenges, and the opportunity to make a tangible impact on the future of Aston Martin.

The role requires occasional travel to other Aston Martin locations and supplier sites. Flexibility around working hours may be required to support programme activities and business needs.
