About the Role
We are looking for a talented and driven Senior Engineer to take ownership of body commodities, leading their design, development and delivery across the full product lifecycle. This role plays a key part in ensuring that all components meet defined system attributes and performance targets, while balancing quality, cost and timing requirements.
You will work closely with both internal teams and external partners, coordinating activities to deliver high-quality engineering solutions that support programme success. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys technical ownership, cross-functional collaboration and shaping innovative automotive design.
What You’ll Be Doing
In this role, you will take responsibility for the end-to-end delivery of body commodity components, systems or features, ensuring alignment with programme objectives. You will lead the development of commodity strategies, driving performance against financial targets, quality expectations and delivery milestones.
You will play a central role in design and validation activities, guiding concepts through virtual and physical development phases, and defining robust validation plans. Working collaboratively across engineering functions, you will lead design reviews, manage build phases, and support issue resolution from early prototypes through to production.
A key aspect of the role involves working closely with suppliers to ensure manufacturing feasibility, while also maintaining ownership of engineering data within PLM systems. You will contribute to continuous improvement by benchmarking competitor solutions and sharing insights with senior stakeholders.
You will also ensure high standards of engineering governance by leading failure prevention activities such as DFMEA and lessons learned, and by creating and maintaining clear, high-quality technical documentation. The role requires confidence in presenting technical information clearly to a wide range of audiences, including senior leadership.
About You
You bring solid experience in project or product engineering, ideally within an automotive or related engineering environment, with a strong understanding of delivering components from concept through to launch. You have a deep technical knowledge of body engineering, manufacturing processes and development systems, and are comfortable working across complex, cross-functional programmes.
You are confident applying engineering tools and methodologies such as DFMEA, CAE analysis and virtual builds to support robust design decisions. Your experience includes working with materials, achieving high standards of perceived quality, and delivering designs aligned with defined guidelines and targets.
A degree in engineering is desirable, although equivalent practical experience is equally valued.
You are detail-oriented, analytical and comfortable working with data to support decision-making. You communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, and are confident engaging with stakeholders at all levels. Your collaborative approach, resilience and enthusiasm enable you to motivate others and navigate changing priorities, while maintaining focus on delivering high-quality results.
Why Join Us
This is an opportunity to be part of a passionate engineering team, contributing to the delivery of innovative, high-performance products. You will have the chance to make a real impact, owning key components and helping shape the future of automotive design.
