Lead Project Engineer ‑ Powertrain L&C

Aston Martin is seeking a Lead Project Engineer to drive Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) emissions and fuel economy certification activities, ensuring compliance across global markets. This is a key role working at the forefront of powertrain regulation, supporting world‑class vehicle programmes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver ICE emissions and fuel economy certification testing in line with global legislative requirements, company standards, and programme timing.
  • Own homologation strategy, including worst‑case agreements, Conformity of Production validation, and technical engagement with type‑approval authorities.
  • Ensure vehicles, components, and all certification documentation accurately reflect production intent and are presented correctly for approval.
  • Monitor and interpret emissions and fuel economy legislation, developing compliance strategies and clearly communicating impacts to stakeholders.
  • Build strong cross‑functional relationships and lead issue resolution within emissions and fuel economy certification.

Essential Experience

  • Proven experience in emissions certification and evaporative emissions testing.
  • Strong understanding of certification requirements, procedures, and homologation processes.

Preferred Experience

  • Automotive powertrain experience and interaction with regulatory authorities.
  • Test vehicle preparation and management.
  • Exposure to HEV, PHEV, and BEV certification activities.

Skills & Behaviours

  • Strong analytical thinking with the ability to simplify complex technical topics.
  • Confident, influential communicator and collaborative team player.
  • Well‑organised with excellent planning and delivery focus.
  • Enthusiastic about emerging powertrain technologies.
  • Fluent English, proficient in MS Office, and a full UK driving licence.
