What if the decisions you make today could help keep an Aston Martin on the road for years to come?
At Aston Martin, our relationship with a customer doesn’t end when their car leaves the factory. Whether it’s one of our latest models or an Aston Martin that has been loved for years, being able to access the right parts, at the right time, plays a huge part in creating the ownership experience our customers expect.
We’re looking for a Parts Operations Buyer to join our Aftersales Procurement team at Wolverton Mill and help us make that happen.
This is a procurement role where you’ll be able to see the impact of the decisions you make. You’ll take ownership of a portfolio of suppliers and parts, helping to secure availability throughout the complete vehicle lifecycle, from new model launch and series production through to end of production and the years that follow.
There’s plenty of variety. One day you could be negotiating with a supplier, the next resolving an urgent supply issue that’s affecting a dealer or customer. You might be identifying an alternative source for a component, challenging supplier performance or working through a long-term strategy to ensure a part remains available well into the future.
At the heart of it all is a balance between availability, cost and quality. You’ll use data and commercial insight to spot potential risks early, understand what’s driving them and take ownership of finding the right solution.
You’ll work closely with colleagues across Parts Operations, Engineering, Quality, Finance, Supply Chain, Dealer Support and our warehouse operations, alongside building strong relationships with Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers, specialist manufacturers and repair and remanufacturing partners.
There’s a strong commercial element too. You’ll lead negotiations around pricing, terms and Aftersales supply arrangements, identify cost-saving and cost-avoidance opportunities and get involved in sourcing and re-sourcing activity. You’ll also work on All Time Buy decisions, helping us think beyond immediate requirements and protect future parts availability for our customers.
We’re looking for someone with experience in Procurement or Supply Chain within a parts, manufacturing or technical environment who enjoys getting beneath the surface of a problem. You’ll understand supplier performance, inventory, lead times and minimum order quantities, and you’ll be confident negotiating commercial agreements and challenging constructively when something doesn’t look right.
You’ll also be highly comfortable working with numbers. Advanced Excel skills are important, but more than simply knowing your way around a spreadsheet, we’re looking for someone who can turn data into insight and use it to make informed commercial decisions.
You don’t necessarily need to come directly from Aston Martin or even from an automotive OEM. What matters is that you understand complex supply environments, can build credible supplier relationships and have the resilience to keep pushing when a solution isn’t immediately obvious. Experience within automotive Aftersales, global sourcing, parts lifecycle or obsolescence management would, however, give you a great head start.
You’ll be educated to degree level or bring equivalent relevant experience, with CIPS membership, working towards CIPS or equivalent procurement experience also welcomed.
Perhaps most importantly, you’ll be someone who takes ownership. When a supplier issue lands with you, you’ll want to see it through. You’ll be comfortable bringing the right people together, asking difficult questions when needed and making sure actions don’t simply sit on a list.
The role is based at Wolverton Mill and will involve travel to suppliers and other Aston Martin locations, with some UK and international travel where required. You’ll therefore need a full UK driving licence and the flexibility to respond when a business-critical supply issue needs attention.
If you’re commercially curious, confident with suppliers and get genuine satisfaction from solving difficult problems, this is an opportunity to make an impact that goes far beyond purchasing a part.
Because keeping an Aston Martin performing at its best doesn’t stop when production ends. Your work will help make sure the parts, partnerships and solutions are there for every chapter that follows.
