About the role
At Aston Martin, we are driven by excellence, innovation and a commitment to the highest standards of governance. We are now looking for a Business Assurance Lead to join our team, playing a key role in strengthening our internal control environment and supporting critical governance priorities across the organisation.
About the team
The role sits within the Business Assurance function, a second line assurance team responsible for leading the UK Corporate Governance Code Provision 29 Material Controls programme.
The team provides internal control advisory and assurance services, working closely with business process owners to ensure that controls are well designed, effectively implemented and supported by clear documentation, including procedures and risk and control matrices.
While working closely with Internal Audit, the function operates independently as a second line team with a focus on enabling and assuring a strong control environment.
Purpose of the role
A strong internal control environment and effective risk management are critical to Aston Martin. This role plays an important part in delivering the Board’s Provision 29 material controls programme, a key governance priority at the highest level of the organisation.
You will collaborate across the business, working with operational, financial and compliance colleagues supporting and constructively challenging stakeholders to ensure controls are robust, practical and fully embedded.
Key responsibilities
In this role, you will work closely with process and control owners across Aston Martin to ensure a fit-for-purpose internal control framework is in place.
Your responsibilities will include providing advisory input into the design of controls, as well as carrying out assurance activities, including control testing, to demonstrate both design and operational effectiveness.
You will engage with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, including Internal Audit, Risk Management and External Audit. Strong stakeholder engagement will be essential, as you will be required to confidently support and challenge individuals at all levels of the organisation working proactively and independently with oversight from the Business Assurance Manager.
About you
You will bring strong experience in internal controls, including control testing, design, implementation and ongoing process improvement.
You will be comfortable working in a complex environment and confident engaging with a wide range of stakeholders. Experience with controls beyond finance, such as operational, compliance or non-financial reporting, would be beneficial but is not essential.
Most importantly, you will bring a collaborative mindset, strong communication skills and the ability to influence and build credibility across the business.
Additional information
This is not a people management role and does not include direct line responsibility. However, it offers high visibility and the opportunity to influence across the organisation.
Why join us?
This is a fantastic opportunity to join Aston Martin at a pivotal time, contributing to the strengthening of our governance framework while working with a diverse network of stakeholders across the business.
