Project Engineer - Dimensional Control and Perceived Quality

As a Project Engineer in Dimensional Control and Perceived Quality (PQ), you will play a critical role in ensuring that design intent is delivered flawlessly from concept through to production.

You will define and validate PQ targets across interior and exterior systems, understanding how dimensional variation impacts the customer’s perception of quality. Working cross-functionally, you will drive the optimisation of tolerances, locating strategies and manufacturing processes to achieve exceptional whole-vehicle dimensional performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and validate PQ targets across component interfaces to meet vehicle attribute expectations
  • Assess and manage dimensional variation across body and trim systems
  • Optimise locators, tolerances and measurement strategies to ensure robust design and build quality
  • Lead and support DVA and Dimensional Management activities from concept through to design release
  • Analyse measurement data to drive process capability and continuous improvement

Experience Required

  • Strong experience in 3D DVA modelling (Siemens VisVSA preferred)
  • Proven delivery of dimensional management within automotive body or trim engineering
  • Experience supporting or leading OQ / PQ activities
  • Solid understanding of GD&T and tolerance interpretation
  • Experience using statistical analysis to assess process performance

Desirable

  • Experience defining CMM measurement strategies and interpreting results
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as moulding, pressing, casting or fabrication
