Department Overview

At Aston Martin, our Performance, Efficiency and Driveability (PED) team is responsible for the definition, development, delivery and verification of vehicle attributes that define the character of every Aston Martin. The team works across vehicle, system and component level—both virtually and physically—to ensure every derivative delivers unmistakable Aston Martin DNA.

 

The Opportunity

We are seeking an Efficiency & Driveability Attribute Engineer to support the delivery of best‑in‑class vehicle Performance, Efficiency and Driveability across our current and future vehicle programmes. Based at our Gaydon headquarters, this role offers the opportunity to work at the heart of vehicle attribute development in a truly world‑class automotive brand.

You will collaborate closely with attribute leaders, commodity teams and wider business functions to define targets, deliver KPI performance, and ensure robust verification at vehicle, system and component level.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the PED Senior Manager in delivering Efficiency and Driveability KPIs at vehicle, system and component level across all Aston Martin derivatives.
  • Work with key internal stakeholders and commodity teams to enable effective definition, delivery and future development of the PED attributes.
  • Define, cascade and manage attribute targets and input KPIs across systems and components.
  • Establish and maintain an indirect stakeholder network (including Electrical & Software Technology, suppliers and test facilities).
  • Collaborate with the PED Manager and Advanced Product Creation (APC) team to scope research, benchmarking and future attribute development initiatives.
  • Lead the definition, development, delivery and verification of the Efficiency & Driveability attribute, ensuring alignment between subjective assessments and objective metrics.
  • Define attribute requirements, tolerance bands and tuning ranges for passive systems and components.
  • Support the development and application of the PED toolset, including simulation, power & torque strategies, WLTP, CO₂ and range definition.
  • Define and execute verification plans (virtual and physical) at vehicle, system and component level, within cost, timing and quality constraints.
  • Define and cascade Design Verification Plans (DVPs) aligned with PED attribute requirements.
  • Review Voice of the Customer feedback to ensure Aston Martin DNA is delivered and protected within the attribute roadmap.
  • Support DFMEA, DVP and system feature reviews to ensure attribute integrity and test readiness.
  • Contribute to PED budgets covering facilities, vehicles, consumables, resources and spares.
  • Track, contain and resolve Efficiency & Driveability issues using robust issue‑tracking and reporting tools.
  • Support the development of standards, specifications, methodologies and test procedures.
  • Report attribute status and performance metrics to support programme gateways and vehicle sign‑off.
  • Support PED attribute sign‑off across Aston Martin vehicle programmes.

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • Engineering degree (or equivalent).
  • Proven experience delivering vehicle‑level Performance, Efficiency and Driveability across complex development programmes.
  • Strong knowledge of PED KPIs and attribute development methodologies.
  • Sound commercial and financial awareness.
  • Proven project delivery experience within formal product development frameworks.
  • Experience with high‑volume and/or low‑volume vehicle programmes.
  • Knowledge of European proving grounds and test facilities.
  • Experience with noise factor management and structured problem‑solving methodologies.
  • Hands‑on experience with PED development tools, testing methods and data analysis.
  • Proficient in vehicle instrumentation and data acquisition tools (e.g. VBOX, Atlas, Vector, CANape, CANalyser).
  • Experience with simulation tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, Python, HyperWorks, RaceWatch or equivalents.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to communicate complex KPI data clearly.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
