About the Role
We are looking for a Database Administrator (DBA) to join our IT team at Aston Martin. In this role, you will support the Senior DBA with the installation, configuration, maintenance and performance tuning of SQL/Oracle databases. You will help ensure that our business-critical applications are available, secure and performing at their best, while contributing to projects that modernise our IT systems.

Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure and upgrade SQL Server software and related products
- Support backup and recovery procedures
- Monitor database performance, reporting and resolving anomalies
- Apply regular patches and upgrades
- Conduct performance evaluations to ensure availability and security
- Troubleshoot SQL/Oracle database issues in a timely manner
- Maintain data standards and compliance with data protection regulations
- Collaborate with IT project teams and developers
- Manage user access and permissions
- Contribute to documentation and knowledge sharing
About You
You will bring proven experience as a SQL/Oracle Database Administrator, ideally with demonstrable hands-on expertise. A strong background in SQL Server clustering, Always on Availability Groups, Data Guard and Replication is essential, together with solid knowledge of database backup, recovery, security, integrity and performance monitoring. You will be confident in analysing and optimising database performance, including tuning T-SQL queries, and will be comfortable troubleshooting complex issues using a range of diagnostic tools.
Familiarity with SQL Server tools such as SSMS, SQL Profiler, Database Tuning Advisor and PowerShell will help you manage databases effectively. Just as importantly, you will enjoy working closely with project managers, developers and other IT colleagues to ensure systems are integrated, secure and reliable. An understanding of user access and permissions management, with a careful approach to data security, will also be expected.
It would be an advantage if you have experience of DevOps practices, database migration projects, or Oracle Enterprise Manager tools. Qualifications or certification in DBA/IT or a related field, for example Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Fundamentals, would also be welcomed but is not essential.
