We’re seeking Powertrain Graduates to join us within our ICE Powertrain teams, giving you the chance to work on cutting-edge projects across the automotive industry. 

 

About the role: 

As a Powertrain Graduate, you’ll rotate across the ICE Powertrain teams, gaining hands-on experience in various areas.  

  • The IC Engine Design team is responsible for the design and delivery/support of all future/current product Powertrain (ICE & PHEV) Sub-Systems.  

  • The Powertrain Exhaust, Fuel & Air Intake systems team is responsible for the design, development & delivery/support of all future/current product Powertrain (ICE/PHEV) Sub-Systems. These include Air Induction, Fuel systems, and Exhaust Systems (CAT/Filters, Mufflers, Finishers) including sensors, actuators for these systems, as well as Heat Protection for Powertrain Components. 

 

Main duties will include: 

  • Writing systems specifications and ensuring alignment to targets cascaded from the vehicle teams. 

  • Creating 3D/2D CAD using Siemens PLM Teamcenter & NX Software. 

  • Ensuring CAD designs achieve failure mode avoidance through the use of DFMEA, design for manufacture, service, and logistical requirements. 

  • Creating, checking, and approving engineering drawings ensuring correct application of GD&T, quality, and AML drafting standards. 

  • Supporting all virtual verification activities including package, CAE analysis, and virtual builds. 

  • Owning related concerns and containment activities, using formal problem-solving tools to ensure concerns are robustly closed to prevent recurrence. 

  • Supporting testing of systems and components (virtual/physical). 

  • Gathering and aligning input data for simulations. 

  • Maintaining close connection to the simulation team to support FEM, 1D, and 3D simulation activities. 

  • Post-processing of test and simulation results and visualizing them in PowerPoint together with design and package data. 

  • Supporting project engineering including regular project review meetings and participation in supplier meetings. Updating development documentation.

You’ll need to: 

  • Be a team player with excellent problem-solving skills. 

  • Hold a degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent qualification/experience. 

  • Be proficient in MS-Office software (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project). 

  • Be familiar with CAD and PLM tools. 

  • Have strong teamwork and collaboration skills, be self-motivated, and able to work with minimal supervision. 

  • Possess good verbal and written communication skills. 

  • Be a fluent presenter of technical information. 

  • Have good organisational skills.
