Job Purpose:

This position takes responsibility and ownership of the IT support activities within Aston Martin Lagonda of Europe. This will include specialist IT Operations support for the local teams of AML Europe focusing on the technical responsibility for managing the Microsoft Windows desktop and laptop environment in conjunction with the wider IT Operations team in the UK. This role purpose further extends in to other areas of IT support as necessary to assist in achieving the business goals. Finally, from time to time and with support, this position will take on special leadership responsibilities as they pertain to new system and application evaluations, testing and implementation within AML Europe.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

Working closely with the core AML IT functions based in the UK, primary responsibilities will include:

  • Hands on development, standardisation, and management of all desktop/laptop infrastructure including hardware, software deployment, images, and patching standards locally and aligned with defined IT standards
  • Providing 1st-3rd level support for the desktop platform, while also providing an escalation point for the Service desk/Tier 2 teams.
  • A highly proactive approach to lead and drive continual improvements to overall desktop infrastructure optimisation while ensuring a highly stable platform is maintained
  • Management and configuration of the Microsoft Endpoint Manager product suite as appropriate for AML Europe, ensuring health, while diagnosing, resolving or mitigating problems
  • Develop and execute on enterprise workstation imaging / deployment methodology
  • Oversight of group policy for AML Europe, including the regular review of existing policies and proposed changes
  • Create and manage application deployment objects for new and existing software
  • Establish and maintain a self-provisioning pool of applications
  • As part of the core solution set, to manage deployment of all patches, critical updates, and service packs on a timely basis
  • Maintain ongoing communications with support teams regarding application issue resolution and general workstation management support
  • Work with key platform vendors for support to resolve issues as well as platform strategy development
  • Coordinate applications release with Software Solutions, QA teams, and business owners
  • Working with the AML End Suer Computing team to develop the Windows 10, Windows 11, and Windows 365, strategy and deployment
  • Manage the deployment and maintenance of Microsoft365/Office365
  • Provide excellent VIP support through escalation as required
  • Provide mentoring, guidance and professional development support to others on staff when needed
  • Other ad-hoc duties as required by the role
  • Strong knowledge of Apple devices including mobiles, tablets and MacBooks and their enrolment using Mobile Iron MDM would be advantageous
  • Experience testing new hardware equipment such as benchmarking PCs and recommending specifications for business would also be advantageous

Qualification & Experience:

  • Experience implementing/managing end user management platform, imaging, software deployment and related technologies
  • Direct experience managing / supporting Microsoft SCCM/MEM platforms
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems,
  • Broad knowledge of desktop technologies and how they can be applied to solve business problems
  • Experienced in developing and executing on short and long-range IT project plans
  • Experience working in both IT team projects and individual projects
  • Effective written and verbal communications. Ability to convey technical issues and material to non-technical people (end-users)
  • Experience of working in an ITIL environment with a strong customer focus.
