Vehicle Dynamics Project Engineer

Job Purpose:

Support Vehicle Dynamics attribute delivery, with target cascade approach, planning, subjective assessment and objective characterization. Work within a team of Vehicle Dynamics Engineers, supporting timely project target setting, project deliveries while improving the DVP efficiency and robustness. Active contributor to Vehicle Dynamics roadmaps definition, vehicle testing procedure standardization and objective measurements with subjective correlation.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support the testing vehicle development process in accordance with the Vehicle Development Program, cascade target to Engineering Specification process for Vehicle Performance and Chassis systems delivery.
  • Ensure a high level of documentation and reporting, both in concept and testing phases.
  • Support vehicle dynamics issues arising during development and support prompt resolution plan.
  • Definition of test requirements, sensors, and data acquisition instrumentation.
  • Prepare methodologies to enhanced group capabilities and efficiencies.
  • Work alongside the CAE Team in the development phase, by providing reliable and useful experimental and supplier data for model correlation and improvements.
  • Support CAE team in developing, maintaining, and advance the Vehicle Performance and Chassis simulation processes and procedures.
  • Running simulations in VI-CRT with models provided from CAE

Qualification & Experience:

  • Experience in Vehicle Performance Engineering within the Automotive/Motorsport industry
  • Understanding of vehicle-level targets to engineering specification cascade process
  • Hands-on experience in vehicle testing planning and budgeting, preparation, coordination, recovery planning
  • Understanding of K&C data and full vehicle KPIs
  • Data-driven engineering approach and process-improvement focus
  • Experience in instrumentation set-up
  • Objective maneuvers experience for handling, steering, ride characterization
  • Proven capability of data post-processing analysis and objective guideline preparation
  • Material and report creation to present project status and gap to target
  • System calibration experience
  • Hands-on experience in modelling and integration of Chassis and Powertrain control systems for Full Vehicle analysis
  • Initial experience in Chassis Virtual Development process with CAE tools and CAE correlation against testing data
  • Comprehension of technical innovations and concept assessment
  • High Level Control Strategy requirements creation
  • Vehicle subjective assessment preferred
  • Engineering Degree in appropriate discipline
  • Good understanding of Vehicle Dynamics and Control Systems.
  • Good understanding of Chassis Hardware systems
  • Competence with Instrumentation and testing equipment
  • Competence is using data acquisition and post-processing tools
  • Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink
  • Experience in computational vehicle dynamics on ADAMS CAR and VI-Grade CRT or equivalent
  • Driving skills/permits
