Job Purpose:

This role is responsible for the technical design, development, implementation, maintenance/management, documentation and governance of the Microsoft Azure estate and Landing Zones associated infrastructure, containers, solutions and services supporting all AML sites globally and aligned with the Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework for Azure. You will be responsible for making sure the service meets the current and emerging needs of the business. This role will achieve this in consultation with key stakeholders in the organisation and with the wider senior infrastructure team.

This role has accountability and responsibility for all Azure cloud services. This role will further extend to integration and support of the on-premise Windows server estate, along side other cloud operations including Microsoft 365 technologies as appropriate.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for architecture, deployment, delivery, configuration, and management of AML Cloud Solutions, with particular emphasis on the Microsoft Azure estate, ensuring optimum performance, availability, and security therein
  • Implementation and management of Azure based cloud storage including authorisation and security, while helping to define appropriate backup and restore, and disaster recovery, business continuity and organizational resilience policies and approach in conjunction with the relevant leads in these areas
  • Utilising Microsoft and industry security best practices, aligning with the Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework for Azure, in the architecture and deployment of solutions leveraging Infrastructure as Code methodologies as needed
  • Working closely with our Development Team supporting and following Continuous Integration (CI), Continuous Deployment (CD) best-practices using Azure DevOps build and release pipelines.
  • Authoring Low Level Design (LLD) documentation to a high technical standard
  • Providing updates on Azure enhancements to Infrastructure Leads, and the wider team, ensuring industry and Microsoft best practices are adhered to
  • Deploying and configuring virtual networks, application and network security groups, bastions and firewalls
  • Undertaking monitoring, reporting, performance and cost management activities as appropriate for the Cloud Services provided covering both Internal and External use cases and developed applications
  • Provide Tier 3 support as required through user tickets, which can involve basic to complex troubleshooting
  • Troubleshooting complex issues surrounding the Azure estate. Working with other team members (networks, storage, backup, application) to resolve issues quickly and put measures in place to mitigate reoccurrences
  • Attend cross functional meetings to help drive appropriate cost-effective design solutions to support business goals and strategy
  • Ensure customer queries are resolved quickly and efficiently, whilst providing training and knowledge sharing
  • Follow IT processes to ensure OLAs and SLAs are met
  • Management of Azure Identity Management, including AAD and Azure B2C with hooks into the on premise Active Directory.
  • Understand advances and changes in related technology & work directly with equipment manufactures to assess new technologies
  • Develop solutions with a focus on reducing operating costs and/or increasing customer experiences
  • Implementing, and staying abreast of, Cloud industry best practices and tooling

Qualification & Experience:

  • Expert knowledge of Azure Architecture and Solutions Expertise and Administration
  • Understanding of Subscriptions, Landing Zones, Resource Groups, Azure Polices & Role Based Access Control (RBAC)
  • Experience delivering Azure IaaS/PaaS solutions with an infrastructure focus. Including but not limited to - Compute, Storage, Networks, Monitoring, Management, Backup
  • Experience implementing Azure Backup and configuring backup polices.
  • Experience implementing Azure Key Vault and collecting secrets during the deployment using ARM templates.
  • Experience deploying Virtual Machines using specific VM SKU types
  • Experience deploying Virtual Machines using specific Azure Disk requirements including, managed disk types, data redundancy and access tiers.
  • Experience deploying Highly Available Virtual Machines
  • Experienced senior technical resource, highly motivated and capable of understanding and resolving complex technical problems.
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft365 cloud services offerings as well as on-premise Windows Server infrastructure, coupled with a general understanding of traditional hosted technologies and approach.
  • A fundamental understanding of enterprise class storage systems.
  • A fundamental understanding of networking including LAN and WAN technologies with particular emphasis on cloud solutions delivery with virtual networks, Express Route, Network and Application Security Groups, Azure WAF and Azure Firewall
  • Expert knowledge of Windows Server Operating Systems (including OS fine tuning, troubleshooting & installation & managing infrastructure services such as DHCP, DNS, DFS)
  • Strong knowledge of VMware platforms and tools
  • A detailed understanding of Active Directory and surrounding technologies including DNS, Group Policy, ADFS, PKI and RMS
  • Capability to author and update infrastructure, support, and procedural documentation.
  • Understanding of service management tools
  • Incident, Problem and Change Management experience

  • Comply with established processes and procedures such as, configuration management and package maintenance.
  • Document all activities during installation and records deviations and remedial activities.
  • Measure system performance before, during and after system integration
  • Verify that integrated systems capabilities and efficiency match specifications.

Capacity Management

  • Monitor utilization.
  • Produce regular and ad-hoc usage/growth reports.

Availability Management

  • Perform analysis of service availability and outage.
  • Build reports and communicate aspects of availability management if required.
  • Coordinate parties to investigate and identify root cause of issues through analysis of information.

IT Change Management

  • Follow guidelines to implement requests for change, avoiding service disruptions and cohering to service levels and information security requirements.
  • Apply change control procedures.

  • Confidently present messages in a clear and precise manner
