The purpose of this role is to provide direction and guidance to the business on all measurement related topics and to manage teams across both operating sites and all AML models. In addition, to ensure the business is compliant in terms of calibration and torque audit requirements and to lead problem resolution of technical dimensional issues.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Day to day planning of the CMM room, Torque Assurance and Calibration teams across both St Athan and Gaydon sites, and across all AML models.
Drive the collection, accuracy and assessment of measurement data for parts, subassemblies, tubs and BIW’s. Communicate complex measurement data to all stakeholders throughout the business (including R&D, AME, CME, PVT, Parts Quality and Production). Produce detailed reports and metrics summarising high volumes of complex data. Accountable for the measurement of supplied parts and feedback to the supplier. Will lead and facilitate problem solving across multiple functions to improve the dimensional accuracy of all AML products.
Primary AML Point of Contact providing strategic and tactical direction to the business on all metrology related topics. Represent AML in discussions with metrology suppliers such as LK, Nikon, Renishaw, Allied Aero. Demonstrate compliance to External and Internal auditors.
Provide consultation at measurement gate reviews. Lead the team towards the vision of 100% dimensionally accurate products, zero torque escapes and no out of calibration equipment used in production.
Provide team direction to set objectives, KPI’s, appraisals, skills assessment and training requirements. Identification of best practice and development of procedures/work instructions.
This role will be split between Gaydon and St Athan, so weekly travel to both sites is required.
Qualification & Experience:
- Team management experience.
- In-depth problem-solving experience such as Green Belt/Black Belt.
- Complex data analysis.
- Understanding of GD&T.
- Good knowledge of measurement techniques and applications.
- Machine capability and Gauge R&R.
- Minimum BEng degree within manufacturing related discipline.
- Metrology experience.
- Computer literacy.
