Job Purpose:

The job holder will work, with the minimum of supervision, on proposing/creating 3D innovative design concepts on all aspects of future and current vehicle platforms, including alternative drive scenarios. The individual will have significant experience in both concept generation and production program delivery, and will be able to deliver proposals with the minimum of data working from the Marketing brief. 

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

• Working within the Design department, support the team with the generation and presentation of innovative 3D CAD concepts
• Lead vehicle architecture zone development
• Lead special projects, as directed by management
• Lead concept hard point development and delivery
• Support buck work to develop occupant related concepts
• Understand intrinsic design values - proportion, stance and surface
• Understand and lead proportion/propulsion relevance
• Work as a part of a highly motivated & committed team to deliver projects on time/on budget
• Mature chosen design theme model through Design Feasibility process to single theme selection/PSC
• Keep abreast of design/materials/technical/other trend developments within automotive/other industries
• Identify and implement processes/technologies to aid future AML Design Studio development work
• Research, identify and communicate key attributes of AML products
• Identify and benchmark relevant competitors, encouraging awareness of trends inside and outside the automotive industry
• Identify time/money/resource efficiencies/savings
• Support key checkpoints and studio reviews
• Direct Surfacing, Clay Modelling, and Engineering to develop world class solutions
• Liaise with R&D advance packaging team on concept/primary hard point resolution 

Qualification & Experience:

• Understanding of design process within automotive sectors, show car/production car experience
• Able to deliver creative concept proposals/proportions/solutions
• Highly articulate, excellent communication skills
• Able to guide 3D digital/physical model and buck development
• Luxury brand and/or major OEM experience would be beneficial
• Knowledge of Teamcentre would be advantageous
• Significant experience in vehicle architecture and with EV concepts, along with competent knowledge of FMVSS  

Behaviours:

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, Word, Excel, Powerpoint
• Ability to work collaboratively alongside other Designers/Digital/Physical Modellers/Engineers
