Job Purpose:

As an interior designer at Aston Martin Lagonda, you will be responsible for the creation and implementation of innovative, modern and beautiful automotive interior designs. As an interior designer expert, you will be able to bring significant experience of automotive interior design to AML. You will be involved in active production and concept car projects from initial concept ideation right through to product launch and beyond into mid cycle impulses. As part of our small, highly efficient design team, you will also be a significant player in setting the future design direction for the brand. You will work closely with CMF design with material led design and use the latest digital tools to bring your visions to life. 

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

•Passionate, positive and creative designer. An ambassador for AML design, actively communicating the departments’ purpose and direction and who will continually strive for the most successful outcome.

•A motivated, organised and highly creative team player with great taste and a high level of understanding of automotive design, luxury design and product design, with excellent creative instincts and the ability to communicate them effectively.

•Able to perform at both Macro and Micro level – able to set a high-level strategic direction for a project, as well as deep dive into a detail development process if required.

•Delivering inspiring results within a given gateway/deliverable timeline, on time and to cost targets, with a clear understanding of the impacts of design decisions on the project.

•The ability to break down and tailor complex design information to present appropriately, clearly and concisely to different audiences. From Design Department Directors and Company Executives through Cross Functional Colleagues to External audiences such as Press or External Agencies.

•Keep abreast of Design/Colour and Materials/Technical/Other Trends developments within automotive industry and wider world of luxury.

•A behavioural role model to the design Team and colleagues around the business.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Prior experience working in Automotive design is a requirement, 4 to 5 years minimum experience. Detailed understanding of the automotive design process with experience working through creative concept phase as well as production delivery phase.
  • Luxury brand and/or major OEM experience would be beneficial, but all experience considered.
  • Bachelor or master’s degree in Automotive Design, Transportation Interior Design.
  • English language to a professional working level.
  • Product Design, Industrial Design or similar design related discipline may also be considered, if the candidate has significant automotive interior design experience.
