We’re looking for an International Trade and Customs Analyst who will be responsible for tariff classification and country of origin within the AML customs team, which sits within our Finance Department.
Reporting directly to the International Trade and Customs Senior Manager, you will be responsible for assigning and maintaining tariff codes for all AML products under the UK Global Tariff and the EU Combined Nomenclature and for supporting the business with its country of origin obligations.
You will work both with internal cross-functional partners within the business and with external partners and suppliers to ensure that AML meets its tariff classification and country of origin compliance obligations.
The successful candidate will need to have experience of AML’s internal processes and ERP (Goldcrest). Ideally, the candidate will also have experience or understanding of tariff classification and / or country of origin but this is not essential.
Ideally, the candidate will also have an engineering background / understanding of vehicle componentry and technology.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsible for AML tariff classification for all UK inbound and outbound products under the UK Global Tariff to 10 digits and 8 digits respectively.
Responsible for supporting AMLE GmbH with tariff classification support under the EU Combined Nomenclature.
Regularly review and audit historical tariff codes utilized by AML.
Regularly review UK and EU classification updates.
Develop a robust tariff classification process in line with Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) standards.
Liaise with other departments, including procurement and engineering to identify future UK tariff suspension opportunities. Working with the International Trade and Customs Senior Manager, submitting applications to the UK Government.
Provide day-to-day tariff classification support to the AML business and AML third parties, including AML customs broker, Customs Support.
Primary point of contact at AML for all country of origin queries.
AML customs lead for management of annual supplier solicitation activities and the collation of Long-Term Supplier Declarations (LTSDs) and other relevant proofs of origin.
Ownership of our Origin Management portal (MIC), including maintenance of master data, the creation of performance reports and acting as the primary customs contact for our supply base.
Regular management reports of AML preferential audit activities.
Leading cross-functional projects to ensure that AML finished vehicles meet the required rules of origin under global FTAs.
Monthly reviews of MSS and customs broker data to ensure that FTAs are compliantly and efficiently utilized on products imported into the UK.
Ensuring that imports into the UK under FTAs are accompanied by the required proofs of origin
Liaise with other departments, including procurement, to ensure country of origin opportunities for savings and efficiencies are incorporated into AML strategy.
Provide day-to-day practical support to International Trade and Customs Senior Manager.
Qualification & Experience:
Knowledge of AML processes & procedures.
Detailed working knowledge of AML’s ERP (Goldcrest).
Strong IT skills using office tools (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Ability to work cross functionally and build effective relationships
Good communication skills
Knowledge and experience of tariff classification (UK and EU).
Knowledge and experience of country of origin.
Engineering knowledge / background.
Hold an understanding of Customs requirements for HMRC, process flows and required documentation for completing imports and exports globally
Additional European language (French / German)
