Aston Martin’s state of the art plant located in South Wales at St Athan is now firmly established and production of the luxury DBX fully underway.

We have an opportunity to join the Manufacturing Engineering team at the St Athan plant as a Senior Engineer, VCATS.

The Manufacturing Engineering team are responsible for providing continuous improvements in both process and quality engineering for the teams they support.  

 

Job Purpose:

 This role reports to the Lead Engineer and is responsible for delivering a VCATS manufacturing process, ensuring highest levels of quality and throughput are achieved.

 

Key Responsibilities & Tasks:

  • Process Development and Maintenance: Responsible for the electrical & functional test processes; producing detailed process instructions for technicians, including visual aids to ensure standard manufacturing process.
  • Process Control: Utilise PFMEA to create and maintain a control plan for processes.
  • Employ Statistical Process Control techniques and drive improvements by reducing process variability.
  • Facilities / Layout: Liaise with Facilities and Production to determine efficient station layouts. Liaise with external suppliers of equipment and compile necessary documents for implementation and approval.
  • Resources:  Work with Industrial Engineers to identify continuous improvement opportunities in the process.
  • Tooling: Select appropriate tools, jigs and fixtures, including specialised hand tools, power tool to meet vehicle, quality and hours per car targets, whilst ensuring operator safety targets are achieved.
  • Health and Safety: Liaise with the Health and Safety department to ensure all processes and materials are suitable for the manufacturing environment
  • Production Support: Investigate and resolve electrical and functional test related build issues, providing timely containments to ensure that product quality is not compromised, investigating root cause and countermeasure implementation.
  • Change Management: Ensure new or modified product content is integrated seamlessly into the production environment
  • Documentation: Maintain engineering documents and records in compliance with legal and company requirements.
  • The successful candidate may, on occasion, be required to travel to other AML sites. 
  • The post holder will undertake other duties as may be required to achieve the Company’s objectives, commensurate with the grading of the post

 

Qualification & Experience:

  • Qualified to HNC/Engineering Degree level.
  • Experience in a manufacturing engineering role
  • Leadership Experience
  • Electrical/Software/Test Engineering
  • Lean Manufacturing
  • IT Literate
  • Ability to negotiate& influence
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
