As a CAD Engineer within the Aston Martin Lagonda Body Structures team, you’ll play a hands‑on role in creating and delivering advanced vehicle body designs, working at the heart of an internationally renowned brand. Department Overview
The Body Structures teams design and develop new vehicle body structures, including primary and secondary structures, A-surface skin panels and closures. The team works across the full vehicle programme, supporting delivery from early concept through to production.
The Role
As a CAD Engineer, you will lead the creation and development of CAD models to support vehicle body design. You will take ownership of delivering current processes while also driving change through new and innovative improvements.
Key Responsibilities
You will lead the creation of robust and high-quality 3D CAD models, including component, system and master section definitions. You will prepare part manufacturing information, using either model-based definition or 2D drawings as required, and manage engineering data within the PLM system. The role involves supporting the preparation of engineering release packs and reviewing, presenting and discussing design concepts and solutions with stakeholders at a range of organisational levels. You will also investigate and support the resolution of engineering issues throughout prototype, pre-production and production phases of the vehicle lifecycle.
Skills & Experience
- Extensive experience in creating 3D CAD models using Siemens NX
- BIW design experience, ideally across one or more of the following: metal castings, extrusions, pressings/forming, RTM, SMC or carbon fibre panels
- Experience using Teamcenter PLM
- Working knowledge of component manufacturing, tooling requirements and lead times (desirable)
- Experience in body structures design and manufacturing (advantageous)
- Proficient with Microsoft Office tools
