We’re looking for a Project Engineer specialising in Vertical and Roll Control Hardware to join our small but busy team at Aston Martin. Working within the wider R&D Chassis team you will be primarily responsible for managing the design, development, validation and release of vertical and roll control components from concept through to production. You’ll derive component targets, recommend appropriate technical solutions, estimate the engineering budget and timing to required to implement your solution before writing technical content for Requests for Quotes and identifying potential suppliers. You will essentially act as AML’s ‘Project Manager’ during development of components taking full ownership as well as supplying technical, timing and budget status to the R&D Chassis Integration Team for Programme milestone and gateway updates. In addition you’ll support on the development and maintenance of technical documentation, procedures and design guidelines with a view to streamlining engineering activities related to your components and ensuring continuous process improvement. In that vein we will look to you to lead on research projects and benchmarking to maintain an up to date component strategy for future programmes.

In this role you’ll gain unique exposure to all vehicle platforms across the Aston Martin product range you will also liaise directly with various specialist teams within the business from Chassis CAE through to Quality, Finance and Manufacturing depending on project phases.

 

This position requires an individual who can hit the ground running and is able to be autonomous from early on. You’ll come from a background rooted in the fundamentals of engineering supported by a BA level degree in a relevant field. You’ll have a good understanding of automotive processes with an appreciation for product development as well as project gateways and milestones. It’s important you have demonstrable previous experience in delivering or working with these components within an OEM or Tier 1 supplier.

You’ll be a critical thinker with a naturally logical and proactive approach to your work. You’ll be confident in your knowledge whilst bringing a passion to learn and develop, enhancing your skill set and learning new softwares as may be required. Excellent communication skills are paramount as you will liaise heavily in your role with internal stakeholders as well as external suppliers.
