Job Purpose:

Our Finance team is at the heart of our fast-paced business creating a world-class luxury automaker and maximizing shareholder value creation, working with the brands and functions to ensure they meet their business goals through strong financial planning and management. The department has a key responsibility for corporate governance and ensuring accurate and fair financial statements and corporate reporting, both internally and externally (including internal audit, investor relations and general corporate reporting).

This role requires a self-starter, highly dynamic individual who will drive improved performance throughout the Financial Reporting and General Ledger team, providing the appropriate financial guidance, control and reporting. You will often be working on multiple complex accounting problems whilst juggling the reporting requirements of month end so time management is a vital skill. You will be hands on and lead the implementation of process improvements. You will be fully embedded in the business and will require partnering skills with the Investor Relations, Legal and Special Operations Sales (Q) teams as the ability to create productive working relationships with colleagues across the wider Finance, Accounting, Sales and other functions as necessary

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsibility for the month-end operational process, including Accounting close timing and liaison with the Finance management team to support them in management accounts reporting.
  • Stewardship of the Chart of Accounts and Departmental Cost Centre structures and hierarchies within the General Ledger – for all AML legal entities in the financial reporting system.
  • Preparation and review of Balance Sheet account reconciliations with the Head of Accounting and Senior Manager A&R, and operation of key financial review controls at period ends.
  • To assist on the preparation of supporting financial information and schedules for the preparation of the annual report and quarterly financial reporting.
  • Responsibility for entity intercompany reconciliations including the investigation of any differences.
  • Ownership of elimination transactions and supporting the preparation of Group Consolidations.
  • Responsibility for the monitoring and reporting of currency effects on the primary accounts in conjunction with the SM A&R and the Treasury team.
  • Support the financial transformation of the business including new software solutions.
  • Lead on the allocation and posting of payroll across the Group.
  • Maintain schedules of IFRS 16 accounting of leases and make monthly adjustments.
  • Responsibility for the integrity of company debtors. This incorporates monthly organization of debtors meetings with the main Sales areas – Vehicle Ops and Parts Ops and monitoring of bad debt provisioning.
  • Responsibility for the operation of and accounting for the wholesale finance facility including management of monthly funding requirements, application / review of credit terms and credit stop decisions as necessary.
  • Ensuring the accounting sub-ledgers (Sales Ledger, Purchase Ledger and Fixed Asset Register) tie to the General Ledger.
  • Maintenance of system Segregation of Duties in conjunction with the Internal controls team.
  • Assistance with Accounting / Treasury transactional requirements including approval of internet banking transactions online.
  • Preparation of statutory accounts for audit in conjunction with the wider Accounting function.
  • Day to day ownership of parts of the external audit process across the business and managing of the relationship with key Audit contacts.  
  • Management of one’s own time with supervision by the Manager, A&R.  This is a technical position, and you’ll have a strong technical background whilst developing skills and knowledge within a large organization. You’ll ideally have experience in automotive.  You’ll be highly accountable and have interactions with senior members of our business. You’ll know how to build solid working relationships with internal and external parties.


Qualification & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Accountancy relevant professional certification required: ACA, ACAS
  • Experience from a similar position in a multinational group or delivering similar financial reporting activity via Big 4 or mid-tier audit firm 
  • Exposure to General Ledger accounting principles & techniques, and working to tight deadlines
  • PC literate with good spreadsheet modelling and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work with external auditors
  • Strong analytical skills – includes the ability to spot, assess and address risk, materiality and interdependencies and translate it into impact analysis for the financial reporting and recommendations for improvement.
  • Strong communication skills – presenting financial reporting matters in an understandable way across various forums and levels of the organisation with the right level of detail. Excellent written and oral English communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team environment and independently with required direction and guidance
  • Ability to act independently, be self-motivated, and motivate others
  • Strong project management skills
  • Some travel activity may be required

It will be nice to have:

  • Experience of implementing an accounting package/ERP system change desired
  • Experience of implementing end to end process improvement desired
  • Familiarity with IFRS 16


  • Good communication skills for internal and external contact at all levels
  • Strong commercial acumen
  • Capable of interpreting and applying the complexities of relevant legislation / financial reporting standards. Methodical and process driven mind set with an ability to present and seek feed-back at all levels within the business
  • Capable of working under pressure
  • People management but with a hands-on approach
  • Good written and verbal communication skill
