Job Purpose:

To manage the Gaydon Facilities Engineering team in delivery of agreed refurbishment works & strategic manufacturing capital investment projects across our multiple sites.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • To manage the Maintenance Teams across all sites and ensure relevant equipment KPI’s are met including OPR rates.
  • Deliver excellent efficiency levels through the Maintenance organisation and develop and deploy the strategy for utilising external contract support in order to react to relevant circumstances in resource requirement.
  • Delivering high investment capital projects ensuring timing & cost status is clearly defined & monitored. Manage and oversee day to day multiple project tracking across the team and AML sites.
  • Monitor team adherence to defined Facilities processes to ensure legislative requirements are met & fully satisfied.
  • Understand project roadblocks and ensure clear escalation to ensure business plans & objectives are met.
  • For new vehicle programs work in close collaboration with the manufacturing Engineering teams to ensure Facilities requirements are satisfied and all new equipment is fully bought into and supported through Maintenance involvement throughout the programs.
  • Support functional Director in identifying departmental training needs & coordinate training delivery.
  • Responsibility for the planning, budgeting and delivery of all Refurbishment works.
  • Responsible for the Maintenance and up-time of all manufacturing equipment in all facilities.
  • Responsible for Capital Expenditure Projects Manager - provide mentoring and support in the delivery of all Capital projects – on time, on budget
  • Liaise with developers, architects, M&E & engineering suppliers and AML internal departments to lead ambitious and challenging projects.
  • Team management to include objective setting, absence and performance
  • Manage & monitor timing plans and ensure delivery within the agreed time scales.
  • Manage budgets to ensure delivery is achieved within targets.
  • Produce Senior Management reports to Director (and above levels) to ensure clear status is communicated as required.
  • The Senior Manager will be overseeing multiple facility projects, with his / her main responsibility being to ensure adherence to processes and procedures. This will involve the following activities:
  • Health & Safety – ensure compliance & adherence to all relevant H&S process requirements
  • Environmental - ensure compliance & adherence to all relevant Environmental process requirements
  • Specification – Investigate the customers’ requirements determining and identifying the most appropriate solution. This solution will then be turned into a written specification to be issued for quotation.
  • Vendor Selection – Evaluate and investigate supplier tender submissions and recommend the preferred supplier.
  • Design Development – As more detail becomes available the facility design may need to change the project engineer will be responsible for monitoring and controlling cost changes.
  • Equipment Manufacture and Installation – Ensure the standard of equipment and installation is acceptable to AML.
  • Commission – Ensure the plant and equipment operates within the specification and achieves the targets set out in the specification and meets all legislative requirements.

Qualification & Experience:

  • The successful candidate must understand CDM and the use of method statement and risk assessment.
  • Cost and project management experience
  • The candidate will need to be Degree qualified with extensive relevant experience of managing and controlling high capital facility installation projects.
  • AutoCAD experience is essential
