Job purpose:

The job holder will work, with the minimum of supervision to investigate and solve Body Structures and Closures Production Vehicle build issues.

Support the development of new models

Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Issue identification and resolution, Production Vehicles.
  • Concern and Containment management.
  • Containment implementation.
  • Support Engineering Manager with Permanent Corrective Action.
  • Create CAD models and drawings to support Containment actions.
  • Liaise with Prototype department for manufacture of containment parts.
  • Liaise with Procurement department for purchasing Containment parts.
  • Support New Model Development including:
  • Create PV Matrix.
  • Support Prototype build activities.
  • Conduct PV activities - Validate process meets performance criteria and support AME during 1PT.
  • Raise concerns and containment actions during prototype builds.
  • Update PV matrix to ensure lessons are captured for future.

Experience and Qualification:

  • Knowledge and experience of Body Structures, Body in White and Closures, in particular two or more of the following: metal castings, extrusions, pressings/forming, RTM, SMC & C/F panels.
  • A working knowledge of component manufacturing, tooling requirements & lead times.
  • A working knowledge of material selection.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of hot cure adhesive, AML systems and structure would be a bonus but not required.
  • Educated to a minimum of HND level (NQF level 5) or equivalent in an engineering related discipline or can demonstrate considerable experience within Body Structures engineering.
  • Knowledge of NX10 (or higher) is required.
  • Knowledge of TCe and VisMockup is required.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
