This role will see the right person joining the MVEC team - Manufacturing Vehicle Excellence Centre, this team has the absolute pleasure of touring the cars far and wide to present in Press events, showcasing the vehicles to the attendees in the utmost pristine conditions. The team also plays a part in ensuring all testing on the vehicles is completed – this includes driving each car through all conditions.

Job Purpose:  

To prepare, paint and polish: parts, test samples and whole vehicles needed for events, fleet & customers.  With emphasis on the filling and shaping of panels for concept and show properties.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks:

  • Vehicle / component preparation – knowledge of a variety of materials and processes used to obtain the optimum finish.
  • Understanding and ability to use preparation techniques to include filler / high build and associated preparation to maintain finish.
  • Inspect vehicles for body defects prior to painting.
  • Ability to use both water based and solvent based, base coat application.
  • Experience in different clear coat applications and associated process requirements.
  • Experience in repair systems for spot to general repair.
  • Experience in show car level polishing and processes.
  • Experience in panel repair and shaping of hand formed and prototype panels is essential.
  • Maintaining a clean dirt free environment.
  • Ability to work on own or as part of a team.
  • Meeting targets in terms of both productivity and quality.
  • Good communication skills.        

    The post holder will undertake other duties as may be required to achieve the Company’s objectives, commensurate with the grading of the post. 

    Qualification & Experiences

  • Apprenticeship required in light vehicle mechanical repair and painting.
  • Further education to HND level preferred but not essential
  • At least 5 years experience of vehicle repair and painting.
  • Experience of filling and shaping hand formed and prototype panels.
  • Experience in show car level polishing and processes.
  • Experience of a wide range of different paint manufactures systems and different processes.
  • Ability to prepare, paint and polish, parts, test samples and whole vehicles.
  • An expert in the filling and shaping of hand formed and prototype panels.

  • This role will involve travelling with the cars to events – the right person will need to be flexible with the ability to stay away from home for a number of weeks at a time.

Remuneration Package

  • Salary £30,752
