The Launch team are responsible for ensuring the flawless introduction of a new product on to the production line. Liaising across all areas of the business this position is responsible for bringing all stakeholders together to deliver key project milestones and ultimately, the delivery of a new Aston Martin.
The role of the attribute engineer is to ensure accurate and proven engineering structures are in place meeting the attribute target set. The role will require the individual to focus on the engineering from concept CAD and follow through pre-builds and into SOP to confirm the final delivery of the attribute target for the vehicle is achieved.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks:
Support the initial attribute target setting process with the VEM team.
Support benchmarking and best in class recommendations including support of new technologies and proving of these at either part or system level.
Understand the attribute target and how the proposed structure will achieve it. Confirm the feasibility of achieving the targets set.
Evaluate through CAD analysis the design proposal and raise necessary concerns to the structure owner for resolution.
Follow any concerns raised through CAD evaluations with the owner to ensure suitable solutions are applied.
Re-evaluate and assess through virtual build process, progression of the design structure to achieve set targets.
Report status of the EBHS & Waterleak attributes through LCM / Gateway events
Evaluate and support during physical builds the performance of the attribute, track and report out to senior management on a weekly basis.
Create and manage test reports to communicate the status of the attribute.
Attend and support PMST to drive design resolution
Be the responsible point of contact and take ownership for any containments necessary to resolve any components or vehicles that are away from meeting the attribute target.
Implement initial containments and vehicle repairs to support pre-production and SOP vehicle progression
Drive ownership of containment to the responsible department
Communicate back to the attribute owner, engineering changes required to reach a desirable countermeasure
Follow the concern management process to countermeasure and close concerns from pre-production build before next build phase or SOP
Complete the concern resolution by programme handover at SOP+90 with concern freeze by SOP+60
Capture learning points and reflections into the design standards, QHR, DVP, DFMEA, etc. as required
Qualifications & Experience
Engineering Degree or equivalent qualification is essential
Experience within Programme or project management
Automotive experience is desirable
Experience within New product launch development
Broad Engineering and manufacturing knowledge
Negotiable base salary in line with experience (from £38,000)
