Supply Chain Manager - St Athan

The Supply Chain team at Aston Martin are the beating heart of our business.  Working with a wide range of stakeholders throughout the business, this role is responsible for overseeing the optimisation of the supply chain which will in turn enable the business to achieve our ambitious second century plan. 

Key to our second century plan is the successful commissioning and operation of our St Athan plant.  This position plays a key role in the successful launch of our South Wales operations and presents a rare career opportunity for an ambitious and highly driven Supply Chain professional to join us and help realise our goals.

 Job Purpose:

The role encompasses all aspects of material planning and logistics to establish St Athan production methods for both AM8 and future new model introduction; determining the site strategy and the subsequent tactical plans to implement change whilst maintaining the daily operational needs. 

Key Responsibilities and Tasks:

Lead and manage the Pipeline, Inbound Supply & New Model Launch Teams in collaboration with entire Purchasing function, ensuring smooth start-up of St Athan Supply Chain.

Development of the production plan to schedule production parts delivery and manage the subsequent daily adherence to build.

Ensure production parts ordering and delivery to site for all vehicle derivatives

Own and lead the operational supply chain strategy development – consider future AML business needs and Logistics ‘best practice’ – with a strong vision for change from which annual tactical goals are developed.

Implementing best practice and new delivery mechanisms to reduce the overall delivery time – reducing inventory in supply chain and driving lead time reduction, managing product complexity to enhance the line side environment – minimal line-side inventory and visual factory are key attributes of the AML vision.

Manage the physical logistics operation from receipt through warehouse to line-side delivery in conjunction with the LLP management team

Responsible for the finished vehicle storage distribution throughout the world supporting dealer network

Strong Inventory management with robust financial reporting & compliance and departmental budget control, minimising obsolescence

Budget control for total logistics operations with all projects having a total cost / financially justified business case

Manage the site compliance for inventory management and accuracy

Supports entire new model launch gateway process with responsibility for production released parts; adherence to delivery and logistics processes for each pre- production build phase.

Support Operations and manufacturing with strong KPI performance, setting annual objectives and target driven scorecard reviews.

Develop and implement cost reduction initiatives (TDC)

 

Qualifications and Experience:

 Ideally the successful candidate will hold a degree level qualification and relevant industry experience in line with the role requirements. 

Proven experience in a time critical environment where JIT, Kanban and Lean working methods are employed by the Supply Chain team is the ideal background experience to support an application for this position. 

A good understanding of cyclical logistics processes and supply chain areas in general along with product launch experience are key to the success of this role.   

As this role is required to work alongside and influence key stakeholders in the business, a strong communication style coupled with a courageous approach to management of change will ensure the successful person is well placed to deliver success in the role.
