Due to the significant growth Aston Martin has experienced in recent years we now benefit from being a true multi-site organisation, and as such this role could be based at a number of sites, including Gaydon, Wellesbourne and Milton Keynes

Job Purpose

Lead the design and development of door trim to meet performance targets

Key Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Benchmarking activities, creation of future strategy plans and archetype definition
  • Level 2 and component target setting to support new vehicle programmes
  • Creation of design specification, concept schemes and definition of master sections
  • RFI creation, Engineering Concept Matrix compilation and System Selection proposals
  • Accountable for DFMEAs, Lesson Learnt reviews and Failure Mode Avoidance activity planning
  • Design Validation Plan compilation in conjunction with Body Development and Programme Attribute Team
  • Plan design activity and release points to meet programme timing
  • Creation of Supplier D&D statement of work and RASIC generation
  • PBoM generation, BoM set-up, CAD development to support Virtual Series reviews
  • Accountable for Concept Location Strategy document to support tolerance studies
  • Lead cross functional design reviews to meet cost, quality and performance targets
  • Support Optical Quality reviews and Surface Definition to support Styling releases
  • Owner of FESO document including engineering deviations as required
  • Author of Engineering Release packs for all commodities
  • Raise risks & opportunities in Cost Management System to track cost movements
  • Manage concerns, containments and permanent corrective actions as required
  • Update Design Guidelines and Engineering Standards to reflect latest learning

 Qualification and Experience

  • Engineering degree (or equivalent)
  • Extensive experience within Automotive Engineering product development
  • Extensive experience in the design of Door Trims on new vehicle programmes
  • Proven track record in design and delivery of Interior Trim
  • Experience of leadership or clear evidence of leadership ability.
  • Familiar with failure mode avoidance techniques including DFMEA
  • Proficient in MS Office tools: Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Good understanding of manufacturing techniques
  • Proficient in the use of Teamcentre / VisMockup to interrogate CAD designs and drawings
  • CAD Literate (Preferably Siemens NX) 
  • Intuitive Knowledge of fundamental engineering theory
  • Thorough, date-driven approach to solving engineering issues
  • Self-starting and self motivated
  • Excellent organisational skills, ability to deliver under pressure
  • Confident communicator - able to present at design reviews and technical forums

Remuneration Package:

  • Salary: Circa £45,000
  • Discount on our privilege lease scheme, either a Mercedes or Ford.
  • Contributory pension scheme – 3% matched for years 1 & 2, rising to double matched contributions from year 3 to a maximum employer contribution of 12%.
