Studio Designer

 

Based at:                               Milton Keynes                     
Reports to:                            Design Programmes Manager

Proposed Start:                    Q2,2018

Job Purpose:

 

Studio Engineer is responsible for coordinating the delivery of the following;

 

  • Initial concept package layouts on both advanced and approved programs.
    Generation of clay hard point brochure and initial vehicle architecture.
  • Concept section generation.
  • Overall vehicle Package Development.
  • Theme development and support for 40% Scale selection.
  • Engineering evaluation to support theme analysis.
  • Support theme development into Full Scale.
  • Initial surface generation and release.  Resulting in AA1 surface release
  • Style development into 100% representative property using math generated data.
  • Develop Engineering Lead Changes and propose alternative solutions to maintain design intent.
  • To support the department in the generation of best in class design and engineered products.
  • Surface development and Release.  Resulting in AA2 and FAA Surface Releases.
  • Support Engineering Release Process by checking all visible component releases ensuring original Math data and Materials are specified to previous agreements.
  • Facilitate weekly Feasibility meetings with all relevant departments and log all issues into an open issues document for all programs and actioning for program progression.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

 

  • To be able to co-ordinate the Engineering input into all current and future programs.
  • A broad understanding of manufacturing and assembly techniques.
  • A comprehensive understanding of automotive regulations both current and future.
  • Office and Studio based working at times under high pressure to strict deadlines.

     

Design Programme Leader

            

Based at:                               Milton Keynes                     
Reports to:                            Design Programmes Manager

Proposed Start:                    Q2,2018

 

Job Purpose:

 

In this role, you will be responsible for the control of Design’s internal program activity as well as representation to external functions. You will also be reporting and informing the Design Managers / functional leads within the Design Studio; Supporting delivery of robust and detailed evidence based timing plans; Tracking programme deliverables / metrics down to part level to ensure delivery of programmes to target and representing the department at all program related reviews.

 

Qualification & Experience:

 

  • Previous automotive experience within an OEM or supplier.
  • Must have a relevant Degree (or equivalent).
  • Must have significant experience of complex planning and timing activities.
  • Must be logical, objective approach to planning and problem solving.
  • Must have a broad design/programme process knowledge.
  • Experience of MISSION/AMPCS principles preferred.

 

Exterior Designer

Reports to:                            Design Programmes Manager

Job Description:

 

In this role, you will have freedom to create and search for innovative designs that deliver world class, award-winning exteriors. We are looking for a committed designer with the ability to create and deliver projects.

The applicant will undertake focused design activities on concept and current program interiors, communicate with all studio functions with some interaction with wider Product Development areas. There will be opportunity to meet VIP and VVIP customers.

Interior Designer

Reports to:                Interior Design Director  

 

Job Purpose:

 

The job holder will work, with the minimum of supervision, on creating (2D/3D) innovative interior designs on all aspects of current and future vehicle platforms. The individual will have experience in both concept generation as production program delivery.

 

Key Responsibilities & Tasks:

 

  • Support the Design Team with the generation of/presentation of innovative 2D Concepts (Sketches/Renderings/Photoshop/Illustrator and other proprietary Graphic Software).
  • Work with a team of Clay modellers to develop (iteratively) 2D concept into 3D design theme property for design reviews/presentations.
  • Mature chosen design theme model through Engineering Feasibility process to Job1 conclusion.
  • Understand and work within established regime of mission.
  • Liaise with Tier 1/Tier 2/other suppliers to deliver world class products.
  • Work as a part of a highly motivated & committed team to deliver projects on time/on budget.
  • Apply Craftsmanship best practices.
  • Carry out special projects, as directed by management.
  • Keep abreast of Design/Colour and Materials/Technical/Other Trends developments within automotive/other industries.
  • Identify and implement processes/technologies to aid future AML Design Studio development.
  • Research, identify and communicate key attributes of AML products.
  • Identify and benchmark relevant competitors, encouraging awareness of trends inside and outside the automotive industry.
  • Plan and prioritise design studio resource and workload, within AML mission framework.
  • Identify Time/money/resource efficiencies/savings.
  • Intrinsic design values - Proportion, stance and surface.
  • Perceived Quality - Fit and finish, gaps and flanges.
  • Promote synergy between departments (Engineering/Manufacturing/Brand Communication).
  • An awareness of AML business goals to ensure delivery of projects on time and on budget.

Alias Modeller

Job Purpose:

 

The job holder will work, with the minimum of supervision to develop 3D digital models for both 2D presentation and 3D evaluation/RPT/milling applications. 

 

  • Supporting the Studio Design Team to enable the delivery of both math and physical design properties.
  • Work directly with the Clay Modelling and Studio Engineering teams to develop 3D Digital model data.
  • Prepare renderings, technical drawings & CAD models of design proposals in support of the Design Release Process.
  • Generate High Integrity math as/where necessary - to defined AML 'A' class standard – i.e. suitable for transfer into other CAD systems (principally Ideas/Catia/ProE).
  • Generate math models suitable for milling/RPT applications (e.g. closed volume STL files).
  • Work within the established regime of FPDS when effecting design changes.
  • Contribute effectively to team technical discussions to ensure that the component engineers understand proposed design changes.
  • Supporting the Designers with the generation of 3D models from 2D proposals/verbal directions.
  • Provide technical information and support to senior management for design reviews.
  • Carry out special projects, as directed by management.
  • Plan and prioritise own workload.

 

Qualifications & Experience:

 

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent engineering related discipline with significant relevant automotive experience.
  • Alias StudioTools proficiency with OEM studio support.
  • 2D Presentation/Animation ability in addition to Class A surfacing expertise.
  • A working knowledge of component manufacturing tooling requirements.
  • Working knowledge of PhotoShop software.
  • RPT/Milling plus Clay Model support understanding
