Role Purpose:

Due to the ever-increasing complexity of Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software being deployed by Aston Martin, an experienced application engineer is required to assist in the support, development and maintenance of the NX CAD toolset, the Teamcenter Visualisation application, and their integration with the Teamcenter PLM system. On behalf of Product Development, this individual will ensure that any functionality, present or forthcoming is made available to vehicle programmes, assuming that value and business benefit can be gained.

The ultimate goal is to strive to achieve the “Full Digital Vehicle”.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide interactive at-elbow technical support and mentoring to CAD, Studio and Manufacturing Engineers focusing on the use of NX CAD and Teamcenter Visualisation applications
  • Support the on-going development and maintenance of the NX CAD system configuration, templates, custom utilities and integration to the Teamcenter PLM system
  • Create, develop and maintain end-user documentation providing CAD/PLM process, methodology and training to facilitate consistency, improvements and standard practices
  • Work in conjunction with a CAD User & Data Coordinator groups to; gather functionality, support and training requirements, develop best practices with Subject Matter Experts (SME) and assist in the resolution of user issues
  • Assist CAD Engineers with design-based, geometric modelling challenges, data management issues and any related PLM System issues
  • Plan, develop and manage an internal Knowledge Base documenting all AM-PLM applications, processes, methods and usage
  • Assist with testing of systems during upgrades end enhancement deployment
  • Work in conjunction with suppliers to assist with deployment plans and user training  for any approved additional packages, functionality or application and platform upgrades
  • Develop and deliver training material to end-users to provide application update training after upgrades
  • Keep abreast of all CAD/PLM developments both internally and externally, working closely with Suppliers to facilitate the best use of the toolsets using both present and future technologies
  • Facilitate the growth of AML capabilities with respect to the CAD and PLM applications

Establish and maintain close contacts with Aston Martin Engineering Partners and Suppliers to ensure best practices, processes are being followed, and ensure awareness of critical application issues and developments.

Experience:

  • Excellent working knowledge of Siemens NX CAD application at user-level including; modelling, assemblies, product structures, sheet metal and drafting tools.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Siemens Teamcenter Visualisation application at user-level.
  • Strong automotive experience and process knowledge including; body structures, body exterior, body interior, body closures, powertrain, chassis and electrical design methodologies
  • Experience and knowledge of Teamcenter PLM at the user and administration level
  • Experience and knowledge of Teamcenter PLM integration with NX CAD
  • Good project management skills and project planning experience
  • Bachelor Degree and/or relevant technical experience preferred
  • Excellent I.T and PC skills (Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio)
  • Experience in compiling in-depth technical documentation and user guides
  • Ability to web search internally/externally for relevant information
