We currently have several fantastic opportunities for experienced Mechanical Technicians to join us in our Events and SVO (Special Vehicle Operations) teams. These teams are responsible for providing comprehensive mechanical support across our whole vehicle range, which can range from ensuring cars are properly maintained at one of our many press / media events (such as Top Gear, The Grand Tour, or The Goodwood Festival of Speed) both in the UK and abroad, to working on bespoke alterations to a customer’s pride and joy or one of the latest special projects. The role will be varied and offers you the opportunity to utilise your broad motor mechanic experience, as well as demonstrate your innovative approach to problem solving. These roles are shift based and both permanent and contract opportunities are currently available.
Some key responsibilities and tasks within this role include:
Adhere to work planning sheets/engineering work sheets and Group Leader’s instructions
Manufacture/sub-assembly of relevant components from drawings
Use diagnostic equipment for testing and verification process.
Read and interpret diagnostic equipment output to minimise rework time/costs.
Seek and repair mechanical faults on the vehicle (which may also involve removal and re-fitting of interior/exterior trim and other components).
Record and report faults to relevant areas of Production or Engineering.
Check that vehicle specifications conform to build requirement/ customer options by referring to the relevant documentation.
To be considered for these opportunities you will need to be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
Completion of an appropriate automotive apprenticeship (or equivalent qualification or experience) and have relevant automotive experience.
Experience of stripping and rebuilding a variety of motor vehicles as a motor mechanic, ideally within an MOT Centre, Dealership or Body Shop environment, or through working for a national breakdown recovery organisation.
Ability to read, interpret and work with engineering drawings/specification data
Clean driving licence
Have effective communication skills including the ability to articulately engage with varying levels of customer / end users
Basic IT skills
Candidates should be prepared to work away from their work base, which could include working at another plant or overseas for short periods of time.
In return successful permanent candidates will receive, in addition to the base salary, the following benefits:
26 days’ annual leave, plus Bank Holidays
Annual holiday bonus of £500
Day shift pattern – Monday to Friday = 0%
Permanent Night Shift – hours normally spread over four or five shifts = 28.3%
Five day, three shift – three shift rotating shift pattern = 22.5%
Weekdays and Saturdays – time and a half
Sundays – double time
