Headquartered in Gaydon, Warwickshire our business is currently growing at an exciting pace and we will soon have an additional production facility, St Athan, located in South Wales.


Job Purpose:
An opportunity currently exists for a Controls Engineer in our Gaydon Facilities and Maintenance department. The initial role will be to provide PLC support in all areas of manufacturing, to implement process improvements and assist our facility’s departments, ensuring AML’s in-house Controls resources are fully utilised. Regular involvement in project meetings both with internal and external teams will be required. The Controls Engineer will be part of a team to address any issues that require support before, during and after new production installations.


Key Responsibilities & Tasks

•Perform Siemens PLC software modifications, improvement’s and integration of third party software. Manage and conduct programming of AML’s SCADA systems.
•Monitor, control and maintain process parameters (where applicable), implement / initiate adjustments and corrections to ensure efficient production and quality levels within all areas of manufacturing.  
•Ensure that the department can support manufacturing operations in terms of equipment and facility controls, application software, data recording and back up processes.

•Support the AML Maintenance team on production stoppages which require software, process or controls support.
•Ensure Controls and associated software are operating correctly to keep the company protected in accordance with current legislation.
•Maintain an effective level of communication across all levels of management.
•Ensure the department strives towards world-class performance, compliance in safety and best automation practices.

Qualifications & Experience

To be considered for this role the candidate must have an extensive knowledge of Siemens S7 PLC based control systems within a manufacturing environment. As well as having a good understanding of SCADA systems.

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate prior experience in working with Siemens S7, TIA Portal, WinCC WebNavigator. An awareness of Si-motion applications, servo drives and interaction with server based systems would be desirable.

Ideally hold automation or control systems qualifications combined with at least 5 years of experience within the manufacturing industry, preferably automotive. Alternatively, you may be a time served tradesman with a high level of experience in Siemens PLC driven automation.

This position requires someone who can work as an effective team member and confidently as an individual. We are seeking a candidate who can demonstrate experience of manufacturing tools and techniques and willingness to undertake further training.
