As a result of the growth of our business we now have a fantastic opportunity to join the Manufacturing Business Office team on the St Athan project as a
Manufacturing Systems Engineer.
The purpose of this role is to support and develop the many systems that enable the production of our exquisite cars. These systems include, Flags, EASE, Goldcrest DC Tooling and Siemens PLC. The successful candidate will work alongside the Manufacturing Systems team to support additional systems such as Secure Gate and RFID systems.
This position will initially be based at our Gaydon facility to enable the successful candidate to learn the Aston Martin Way and be set for success when we move into our new home at St Athan in South Wales.
Key Responsibilities & Tasks:
liaise with Quality engineers for functionality and product specifications in order to specify configuration of vehicle details within the Flags software.
Evaluate Flags system and look for improvements.
To ensure new model content is updated prior to launch.
To liaise with suppliers to ensure delivery requirements are achieved in a timely manner and within budget.
To validate Flags software releases and introduce controlled trial process.
To provide advice and assistance to production technicians, maintenance and systems in relation to system requirements and specifications.
To support Production via radio, telephone & email enquiries.
To ensure continuation of build through the production facility, with minimal downtime by adopting preventative maintenance philosophy.
Control and collate electrical RFT data and data collection methods to provide the business with the information required to improve electrical RFT.
Provide training of Flags System to members of staff as and when required.
Investigate the use of new technologies whilst supporting existing production tools such as Flags & RFID.
Attend interdepartmental meetings to resolve problems, coordinate changes when requested.
The successful candidate will assist in the maintaining and developing work standards, Work Allocation Reports & supporting all Manufacturing Business Office related activities for current model.
To be considered for this role you must be able to demonstrate a strong logical approach in bespoke software configuration. Well developed analytical, technical, interpersonal, client service and communication skills are key to the success of the role as is attention to detail, accuracy and the ability to understand source data structures.
Previous experience in creating stored procedures, functions and triggers for various business requirements, experience of data management and analytical skills will be highly regarded.
This is a demanding work environment where a calm, rational approach to problem solving under pressure is critical to achieving the desired outcomes.
Exposure to the following software systems will be a distinct advantage: SQL/SQL Management Studio, Advanced skills in Excel, intermediate-Advanced skills in Visual Basic for Automation. Applicants must be able to analyse, understand and troubleshoot existing report coding. Knowledge and used all latest features in T-SQL, MS Visual studio 2012 onwards, SQL Azure, .Net and MS SharePoint Development and integration with SQL code
Previous experience working in a relational database environment (SQL Server), writing queries, analysing data and exposure to reporting concepts and tasks (operational or functionally) as well as preparing and presenting information to end-users in different formats will be well regarded in those applying for this role. In addition we are seeking someone with previous responsibility for writing complex queries with optimal performance as per the business requirements and maintaining coding standards with version history.
